The India AI Impact Summit, scheduled to be held in New Delhi from February 16-20, 2026, is anticipated to be the largest of the four global AI summits hosted to date, reflecting the growing international momentum around responsible, inclusive and impact-driven Artificial Intelligence.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, today held a high-level press conference ahead of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, chaired by Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Electronics & Information Technology. The event was also attended by Shri Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Electronics & IT; Shri Ajay Sood, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India and other senior MeitY officials. The press conference outlined key developments, confirmed global participation, and previewed the India AI Impact Summit’s anticipated outcomes as India prepares to host the first-ever global AI summit in the Global South from February 16–20, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

The India–AI Impact Summit 2026 will be the first global AI summit to be hosted in the Global South. It will be held from 16 to 20 February 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, as a five-day programme covering policy, research, industry, and public engagement. It will be anchored on 3 foundational pillars, or 'Sutras': People, Planet and Progress. The India AI Impact Expo is expected to feature over 300 exhibitors, from 30 Countries, across more than 10 thematic pavilions.

The IndiaAI Mission, MeitY in collaboration with IIT Hyderabad today hosted the Working Group Meeting on Inclusion for Social Empowerment at the IIT Hyderabad campus. The meeting convened senior policymakers, academic leaders, industry experts and researchers to advance national deliberations on inclusive AI development, societal adoption of AI and equitable access to AI-driven opportunities.

The Madhya Pradesh Regional AI Impact Conference 2026, organised by IndiaAI Mission, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Government of Madhya Pradesh, concluded today in Bhopal. The event showcased cutting-edge AI use cases and best practices in governance and public service delivery, successfully aligning state-level initiatives with the IndiaAI Mission's national ambitions.

The engagements were organised by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in collaboration with IndiaAI, with support from the Government of Uttar Pradesh, under the broader framework of the India AI Impact Summit.

IndiaAI and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with the Government of Uttar Pradesh, are set to host the Uttar Pradesh Regional AI Impact Conference 2026 in Lucknow on 12–13 January 2026. Showcasing cutting-edge deployments of artificial intelligence in governance and public service delivery, and to align state-level initiatives with the ambitions of the IndiaAI Mission.

As a key preparatory milestone leading up to the India AI Impact Summit 2026, the Conclave on AI for Science - Working Group Meeting was convened today at the IIT Bombay Research Park. Hosted by IndiaAI, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra and IIT Bombay, the one-day hybrid conclave brought together leading scientists, policymakers, technologists, and innovators to explore how artificial intelligence can accelerate scientific discovery and deliver societal solutions.

The Rajasthan Regional AI Impact Conference was held on Tuesday, 06th January 2026, bringing together national and state leadership, policymakers, industry leaders, startups, and academia to deliberate on the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in governance, infrastructure, innovation, and workforce development. The conference serves as a precursor to the India AI Impact Summit to be held from 15-20 February 2026.

Day 2 of the Human Capital Working Group Meeting, organised by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the IndiaAI Mission in collaboration with the Government of Assam and IIT Guwahati, concluded today with focused deliberations on practical implementation pathways for language access, the National Language Translation Mission (NLTM), AI-enabled education, and the BHASHINI platform.

The two-day meeting (5–6 January 2026), chaired by Prof. T. G. Sitharam, serves as a key thematic precursor to the India AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled to be held in New Delhi from February 15–20, 2026, and is expected to inform national-level deliberations and policy outcomes.

IndiaAI, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, in collaboration with the Government of Assam, and IIT Guwahati, will convene the Human Capital Working Group Meeting on January 5-6, 2026, in IIT Guwahati campus. The Working Group is chaired by Prof. T. G. Sitharam, Chair of the Human Capital Working Group and former Chairman, AICTE, Government of India. The two-day meeting will bring together senior policymakers, academic leaders, industry experts, and practitioners to deliberate on the future of education, skilling, and workforce readiness in the age of Artificial Intelligence.

As part of India’s build-up to the India AI Impact Summit 2026, the Rajasthan Regional AI Impact Conference 2026 will be held on January 6, 2026, in Jaipur. The Conference will serve as a key regional platform to explore how Artificial Intelligence can drive governance reform, economic growth, innovation, and inclusive development.

The Government of Odisha today held the Curtain Raiser of the Regional AI Impact Conference, Odisha, to be held on 18-20 December 2025, setting the stage for a landmark convening that will position the State as one of India’s frontrunners in the adoption and deployment of artificial intelligence across governance and key public sectors.Organised by the Electronics & IT Department, Government of Odisha, the Conference will serve as an official precursor to the India AI Impact Summit 2026. The IndiaAI Mission, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, in collaboration with the Government of Maharashtra’s AI and Agritech Innovation Center and supported by the World Bank and Wadhwani AI, has announced a global call for use cases for a Compendium on the Real-World Impact of Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture. The initiative seeks to document deployed and scalable AI solutions that enhance crop planning, strengthen farm operations, expand market access, and improve financial resilience for farmers in emerging and developing economies.

Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Bhupendrabhai Rajnikant Patel inaugurated the Pre-Summit Conference on AI for Good Governance: Empowering India Digital Future, jointly hosted by the IndiaAI Mission under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India in collaboration with the Government of Gujarat and Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, at Mahatma Mandir. The IndiaAI Mission, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, in partnership with Central Square Foundation and EkStep Foundation, has opened a global Call for Use Cases for the Casebook on the Real-World Impact of Artificial Intelligence in Education. The casebook will spotlight proven, scalable AI applications that are transforming learning outcomes, strengthening teaching, and improving access to quality education across emerging and developing economies.

Strengthening India’s commitment to scaling responsible, inclusive, and innovation-led AI ecosystems across states, the IndiaAI Mission under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, in collaboration with the Government of Gujarat and Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar is convening a Regional Pre-Summit Event on 11 December 2025 at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar.

Towards advancing India’s vision for safe, trusted, and inclusive AI, the Centre for Responsible AI (CeRAI) at IIT Madras in collaboration with the IndiaAI Mission under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, is hosting a Pre-Summit Event convening on 11 December in Chennai, ahead of the India–AI Impact Summit 2026. The programme will open with a formal inauguration on the evening of 10 December, followed by a full-day Pre-Summit Event and a hybrid, closed-door Working Group meeting on 11 December.

The Regional AI Impact Conference, Shillong, organised by the IndiaAI Mission, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, in collaboration with the Information Technology & Communications Department, Government of Meghalaya, was inaugurated today at the State Convention Centre, Shillong. The event was graced by Shri. Conrad K. Sangma, Chief Minister of Meghalaya, as Chief Guest, and Shri. Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Railways; Electronics & Information Technology; and Information & Broadcasting, addressed the inaugural session virtually and extended his greetings. Senior officials from MeitY, representatives from industry, academia, startups and students from across the region participated in the conference.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, and UN Women India have launched a global Call for Nominations for a Compendium focusing on the real-world impact of Artificial Intelligence in advancing gender equality. This initiative is part of broader engagements leading up to the India-AI Impact Summit 2026 and aims to showcase measurable and verifiable AI applications that are positively impacting women and girls, particularly in the Global South.
